Caledonian Hall

Caledonian Hall is nestled serenely in the south-eastern corner of the garden, overlooking the RBGE Stone Garden and just seconds away from the majestic sequoias in John Muir Grove .

David Douglas Room
The David Douglas Room, named after the Scottish botanist who was famous for his research on the flora of North America and Hawaii and who gave his name to the Douglas fir, is beautifully situated at the southern end of the Gateway restaurant, with a great view of the garden and, in the winter months, the Edinburgh skyline and the castle as the trees shed their summer leaves.
Caledonian Hall
Caledonian Hall is nestled serenely in the south-east corner of the garden, overlooking the RBGE Stone Garden, and just seconds away from the majestic sequoias in John Muir Grove. This beautiful old building, originally built by the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society as a showroom in their experimental garden until 1864, became the RBGE herbarium for 100 years until 1964. It is now a popular and ideal, if not perfect, venue for weddings, private and corporate dinners and parties, and by far the best place to take your shoes off in style. Just behind the Caledonian Hall, guests can visit the purpose-built pavilion; this upscale addition to the venue adds many extra options and features to any event held in this part of the Garden. Your wedding ceremony in John Muir Grove, a family barbecue overlooking the rock garden, a product launch in the pavilion or a champagne reception in the hall itself - the possibilities to create this special space to suit your particular requirements are endless.
